Aston Villa are now going to battle it out at Villa Park against Bologna FC. This is going to be an intense second leg quarterfinal clash of the 2025-26 UEFA Europa League.

The Villans will be at home and it is going to keep them at an advantage from the start. They further have a two-goal cushion after securing a 3-1 win in the first leg against the Rossoblu.

Aston Villa have never lost to them before and will be looking for another victory. Unai Emery’s men will be confident for their upcoming clash.

Bologna FC are going to be under immense pressure here. They don’t have the strongest performance in the final third and this can become a problem for them.

Turning around that two-goal deficit is going to be tough for the Rossoblu. The Vincenzo Italiano-led side will be keen to work on their strategy and must control the game from the start.

Aston Villa vs Bologna Europa League preview: Where to watch, predicted line-ups, team news

Where to watch, predicted line-ups and team news for this UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg.

Following a third successive defeat against Villa (this time at home), the situation does not look particularly bright for Bologna. The Italian side also remain winless in six games against English sides (D1 L5), but they have won their last five Europa League away fixtures since they lost 1-0 at Villa Park in September.

"It will be difficult in England, especially considering their third goal in added time," said midfielder Remo Freuler. "But, in football, anything is possible." Villa will be aware of that old maxim too. They are unbeaten in 11 European home games (W10 D1), though plenty of members of Unai Emery's squad will remember that last defeat; a 4-2 loss against Olympiacos that cost them a place in the 2023/24 UEFA Conference League final.

Europa League: Aston Villa vs. Bologna – probable line-ups, where to watch on TV

Bologna will look to Santiago Castro and Jonathan Rowe up front in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals against Aston Villa tonight.

It kicks off at 21:00 CET (20:00 BST) at Villa Park.

Bologna suffered a 3-1 loss at home in the reverse fixture, so they’ll need a win with a two-goal margin to send the game to extra time and a win by three goals to progress to the semis.

The Rossoblu have travelled to England without the suspended Jhon Lucumí. Lukasz Skorupski, Benjamin Dominguez and Thijs Dallinga are injured. Eivind Helland and Lorenzo De Silvestri are not part of Bologna’s UEFA list.

Several sources, including Sky Sport and Gazzetta, claim that Joao Mario is favourite over Nadir Zortea to start as a right-back. Tommaso Pobega is expected to get the nod alongside Lewis Ferguson and Remo Freuler in central midfield, leaving Nikola Moro on the bench.
